Hey hey hey!
I was going to share another post today when this title dropped in my Spirit- Who did Jesus come for?
And I’d illustrate it using a flyer/magazine I once saw. I can’t even tell how I noticed the message they were trying to portray, but I was surprised that anyone would even think that way. Here’s the illustration that was on the cover of that magazine-
There was a bench and one man was sitting on it. He wore a sleeveless top, gold chain, shorts and trainers. To top it all, he has tattoos! Tufai!
Then right by his leg were some items- a long sleeve shirt and official trousers. (I can’t recall if there was a Bible.) This person has been taken up to heaven, while the ‘bad guy’ was left on the bench.
This got me thinking…who did Jesus come for?
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:9-13 NIV
Jesus left that place, and as he walked along, he saw a tax collector, named Matthew, sitting in his office. He said to him, “Follow me.” Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having a meal in Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and other outcasts came and joined Jesus and his disciples at the table. Some Pharisees saw this and asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such people?” Jesus heard them and answered, “People who are well do not need a doctor, but only those who are sick. Go and find out what is meant by the scripture that says: ‘It is kindness that I want, not animal sacrifices.’ I have not come to call respectable people, but outcasts.” (This right here!!!)
Matthew 9:9-13 GNB
Please, don’t get me wrong. Open up your hearts and see the meaning behind this post. I am not asking anyone to begin to live in a Strip club or dine with unbelievers every day, I am asking us not to judge.
Who are we to judge?
How can you see someone and conclude that they can never make heaven?
The Bible has clearly shown that these are the exact kinda people He has come for. There’s more rejoicing over a soul won to God’s side, than over 100 who were already saved.
Left to God, we all would make heaven, but let’s remember that Satan is also real. Left to him, no one will make heaven.
I remember getting a flyer from someone one time. They were doing evangelism in our area and when I read the flyer ehn, fear gripped me! I wrote on it- I’d rather preach love first.
The damnation and all round judgment in that flyer was scary.
And this only pushes people away and not to God.
Think about it.
You’re saved. How did you accept Jesus?
Wasn’t it because you left an unexplainable love flood your soul?
Did you accept Jesus in fear that “Ewoo. My sins cannot allow me enter heaven ever again.”
Or did you think of how your heart realized that God was willing and had already cleansed you and wanted to make you whole if you lived for Him?
I can be judgemental.
Sometimes, I see people and lambast them in my head. I may even think that some are lost cases and nothing can change them, but when God reminds me of just a tiny bit of who I used to be, I know that everyone can change.
Everyone can become beautiful if they accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Our own work isn’t to judge, but to spread this Good News and love that we have received.
It’s not easy, but whenever you’re tempted to judge, just pray for the person instead.
Someone prayed for you to get saved. Whether or not you know it.
Why not do same for someone else?
See people are Jesus sees them.
He came for the misfits and that’s what many of us were or are. Misfits.
See you at the launch! Picture has all details. 💚
