At the beginning of the year, while praying about certain things for the year 2018, God shared a phrase with me and it’s only now that I’m seeing that that’s probably supposed to be my mantra for the year (and for life really).
“Tell the World”.
Just before I get into the story of what ‘Tell the world’ means, let me share a mindset shift that just happened to me.
My Aunty calls me an Evangelist; she started calling me that when I was a bit younger, I don’t even think I was saved then. Before, I laughed mockingly and in denial at her statement. Now, after reading few chapters from the book ‘One thing you can’t do in heaven” by Mark Cahill (Shout out to Kunmi for sharing it!); I understand that I ‘get’ to be an evangelist, not that I have ‘got’ to. There is a difference, it is a privilege.
Just in case you don’t know it yet, I’ll like you to know that you’re also an evangelist; whether or not you have an Aunt who states it.
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
1 Timothy 4: 1-5

Timothy watched over a people, teaching them and grooming them in the ways of God. In today’s terms, we’ll probably call him a Parish Pastor; yet, Paul encourages him to do the work of an evangelist. Paul encourages us to do the work of an Evangelist.
There’s a mission field right in front of us; in our families, offices, buses, even churches! We don’t have to be sent forth on Missions to be Evangelists, we already are!
Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation
Mark 16: 14-15
You would not feel like one on most days; in fact, you will want to just live life enjoying your Jesus on your own; but who keeps quiet about someone they really love? Who keeps a love relationship secret?
In a million years from now, only one thing will matter. Wow. I read that in the book and it’s only just making sense. Death, pain, sickness; all of that hurt for a moment. But in a million years, only one thing will truly truly matter and it’s heaven or hell and how many people we will invite to one of both.
We can praise in heaven; I love to dance and I will be allowed to dance in heaven, I can even read the word the heaven because in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God. I’ll be with God so I literally will be seeing the word, but I can’t tell an unbeliever about Jesus, because only believers will be in heaven.
Let that sink; only believers will be in heaven.
As much as you love your family, they’ll not be with you in heaven if they are not believers. Same for me.
Let’s tell ourselves the plain truth, we need to reach out to people more. We all want to rob bodies with salt, but salt with salt remains just salt; salt in food becomes flavour. Just as salt in the world becomes flavour.
Our generation needs us. You don’t have to go far; just look around you, people everywhere need Jesus!
He’s the only remedy for this hurtful world and we should go all out to tell the world. Our goals for the Lord should be much more than our fitness and financial goals.
In a million years, this is what will matter; this is the story of the phrase God gave me; this is what ‘telling the world’ is all about.
I hope we will somehow be involved in this, I hope we come to the understanding that we are evangelists; called out to #TellTheWorld about Jesus.
I have such a passion for evangelism, but my passion is not enough if I am not willing to step out and actually SHARE!
Love and light,
