The Word – Jesus.

The Word – Jesus.

Hey hey hey

Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith. Watch out for those dogs, those people who do evil, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort, though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more! I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!
Philippians 3:1-11 NLT

My heart is full. Jesus is everything.

There’s this thing I do…my phone wallpaper always carries a word that reminds me to draw near to Christ.

Yesterday, I changed it from ‘Pray‘ to ‘That I may know Him.’

My alarm also goes off at 8pm EVERYDAY. The alarm title is ‘Time with my maker.‘ But I must confess that I sometimes spend time doing other things instead of spending time with Jesus.

I love getting a word early each day, but there’s something about my evening times with God. I noticed that I really ‘download’ stuff into my journal during those times.

Anyway, yesterday, I missed that alarm again. And as I prepared to sleep (while checking social media), a word started ringing in my heart- THAT I MAY KNOW HIM.

I didn’t know where it was so I searched and found it in Phillipains 3.

Oh, what power the scriptures carry! As I read what Paul wrote, I was in awe of God.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Philippians 3:10 KJV

I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
Philippians 3:10 NLT

[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]
Philippians 3:10 AMP

That I may know Jesus.

In that Chapter, Paul talks about discarding everything else to live for Christ because no amount of self work can attain righteousness.

And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law’s demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith.
Philippians 3:9 AMP

I’m using Scripture to explain this word because there’s no way my words can truly explain them.

That we may know Him.

What does that even mean?

It’s funny how just before I got this verse ringing in my heart, I had joked with a friend on “the higher calling.” We talked about my friend who asks the Holy Spirit about what to wear daily and she actually chooses her combinations based on His suggestions. (Plus, she’s way more stylish than me.)

So, as we joked, I told me friend, “that one is the higher calling o. I haven’t gotten there yet.”

But I was joking. Until I saw this.

I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
Philippians 3:14 AMP

Jesus is calling me upward? Really?

And I got this message right after I had joked about it. Wow.

What’s Jesus saying?

Is He saying He wants me to get so close to Him that I can talk about what to wear?
That I can be totally unashamed in His presence.
That I can be as real as real can be.
That I can ask the deepest questions that man can’t answer.
That I can share Him without shame.
That I can be content in the profit of knowing Him.
That I can be sure of spending eternity with Him.
That I can imagine what it would be like to see Him face to face.

Is it even possible?

Can I truly get this higher calling?
Can we?

Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
Philippians 3:12-13 AMP

That’s it right there.
It’s not that we’ve attained the perfection we seek, but we have been made His own!
Glory! That’s the greatest testimony anyone can ever have. Ever.

Or can you tell me one thing that matches your salvation?
Is there anything more precious to you than Jesus?

That we may know HIM.

Lord, I pray that this word rings in our hearts through out this week and beyond. It’s not that we have attained, but that we have been called to have a deeper walk with you. One that we act, speak, look and feel more like you daily.
Lord, help us. Help us to know you more than we’ve ever done before.
You, Jesus, are the reason we have life.
Thank you.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Love always,

  • Michael

From the beginning of the year I have pleaded with the Lord to live by just rules for my life:
    1. That I may know Him……..
    2. Not to forget rule number 1.
This is a post which the Lord has used to help in upholding these rules. I must sincerely confess, walking in the light of pressing closer with the Lord isn’t something that comes easy especially for someone like me who is an extrovert, restless and outgoing. But God has been faithful. Personally, I found that it takes a lot KFC sacrifice, withdrawal from even the best company of friends and loved ones, some serious discipline, determination, DILIGENCE IN SEEKING HIM and SELF DENIAL for God is a rewarded of them that diligently seek Him. But then, I realised that all we need is come near to God and HE WILL COME NEAR TO YOU FOR HE WILLS TO GIVE HIMSELF UNRESERVEDLY TO US. God bless you sis for the word.

    • Ahh, Got bless you.
      Mine has been James 4:7
Submit to God, resist the devil and He will flee. For me, when I submit to God, every other thing falls in place.

I pray we keep the word that God has given us so that we can always remember to run to Him for peace and direction.

I truly love your comment. I also have to consciously make an effort to dwell in Him. I can be all over the place which is why I put these reminders- wallpaper, alarms, etc.
But even with those, it still takes killing the flesh to get where we all want to.

Glory to God though. Glory to God.

      God bless you!

Thank you for this post, it is a timely reminder. This topic was treated in our church some month ago.
Micheal thanks for your comment, you stated what we need to do there.
Most times when i get discouraged that i have been seeking Him but i have not experienced any personal encounter to hold on to, i remind myself that its just like a boy and girl relationship where the guy is “wooing” a lady, she does not bulge until she sees the seriousness and commitment in the boy so i tell myself- continue, when God sees that am not backing out, He will reveal Himself to me.

Thanks Bolaji and Micheal, God bless us all.

    • Sis Mi!!!
My dear, God is IN YOU. I went to House on the Rock for the first time last week and that was the message- GOD IN YOU! That carries power.
We do not have to look anywhere else because as believers, Jesus is IN us through the Holy Spirit.
We then need to read the Bible to better understand this Jesus who lives IN US.
And He speaks to us individually. Over time, I’ve come to learn how He speaks to me, but the thing is that God is so diverse that He can use a donkey to speak to a human being.
You don’t have to TRY HARDER, just seek Him as He already lives and speaks to you.
Do you know that there are no coincidences when it comes to God. So, if you experiences things that seem like ‘coincedences’, like people checking up on you a particular issue just when you were thinking about the same thing…
      These things don’t just happen.

He HAS ALREADY revealed Himself to you. Now, you get to know Him more daily.

      Love ya!

    • Ahh! After writing a long comment, the thing did not how. The devil is a liar.

Sis, God ALREADY LIVES INSIDE OF YOU AND REVEALS HIMSELF TO YOU. (I will message you soon sef.)
Even things as little as a word ‘dropping’ in your Spirit is proof that He speaks to you. You do not have to look anywhere else apart from this God inside, who stays there through the Holy Spirit. The Bible is what reveals this Jesus more daily, that we may know what it means to now have Him in us.
Over time, we learn how He speaks to us individually. (Though He still chooses other ways to speak o.)

Anyway, I’d send a message soon jare. Love ya!

  • Aramide

hahahaha! i just noticed the blunder in my comment, can it be edited @ mobolaji?

“until she sees the seriousness and commitment in the boy”. *

  • Aramide

Thanks for the response B, i just did a little reflection and yes He is in me and He does speak i guess am not yet familiar with how He speaks to me. This morning on my way to work, i just had the thought of accident and the next thing that came to my mind was “for the LORD is my keeper, the Lord is my shade, upon thy right hand” and i smiled.

    • Exactly! The more we walk with Him, the more familiar we become with how He speaks to us personally. (Though He can speak with and in anything.)
I love your testimony! Who do you think out that word in your heart?
That’s God speaking His word to you, because you’ve spent time in His word.

I’m at church, I’d message you soon.

  • Michael

Whao!!! Great comments up there. God bless you sisters. That issue of IN HIM is what the Lord is still pressing in my heart lately and even asked me to study and search out all (IN HIM) in His word as therein lie all that we are in HIM. I guess I’ve got get back to you ladies on that as the Lord reveals to me that we may walk therein together. Stay blessed sisters.

    • Like!
I didn’t post yesterday because I want to be mindful to first be filled with Jesus because I share Him with others.
We sometimes get distracted with what’s happening outside, that our inner man suffers.
My prayer is that we all remain IN HIM. And pls, come back when you’re ready to share more.
