Hey hey hey
Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith. Watch out for those dogs, those people who do evil, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort, though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more! I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!
Philippians 3:1-11 NLT
My heart is full. Jesus is everything.
There’s this thing I do…my phone wallpaper always carries a word that reminds me to draw near to Christ.
Yesterday, I changed it from ‘Pray‘ to ‘That I may know Him.’
My alarm also goes off at 8pm EVERYDAY. The alarm title is ‘Time with my maker.‘ But I must confess that I sometimes spend time doing other things instead of spending time with Jesus.
I love getting a word early each day, but there’s something about my evening times with God. I noticed that I really ‘download’ stuff into my journal during those times.
Anyway, yesterday, I missed that alarm again. And as I prepared to sleep (while checking social media), a word started ringing in my heart- THAT I MAY KNOW HIM.
I didn’t know where it was so I searched and found it in Phillipains 3.
Oh, what power the scriptures carry! As I read what Paul wrote, I was in awe of God.
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Philippians 3:10 KJV
I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
Philippians 3:10 NLT
[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]
Philippians 3:10 AMP
That I may know Jesus.
In that Chapter, Paul talks about discarding everything else to live for Christ because no amount of self work can attain righteousness.
And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law’s demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith.
Philippians 3:9 AMP
I’m using Scripture to explain this word because there’s no way my words can truly explain them.
That we may know Him.
What does that even mean?
It’s funny how just before I got this verse ringing in my heart, I had joked with a friend on “the higher calling.” We talked about my friend who asks the Holy Spirit about what to wear daily and she actually chooses her combinations based on His suggestions. (Plus, she’s way more stylish than me.)
So, as we joked, I told me friend, “that one is the higher calling o. I haven’t gotten there yet.”
But I was joking. Until I saw this.
I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
Philippians 3:14 AMP
Jesus is calling me upward? Really?
And I got this message right after I had joked about it. Wow.
What’s Jesus saying?
Is He saying He wants me to get so close to Him that I can talk about what to wear?
That I can be totally unashamed in His presence.
That I can be as real as real can be.
That I can ask the deepest questions that man can’t answer.
That I can share Him without shame.
That I can be content in the profit of knowing Him.
That I can be sure of spending eternity with Him.
That I can imagine what it would be like to see Him face to face.
Is it even possible?
Can I truly get this higher calling?
Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
Philippians 3:12-13 AMP
That’s it right there.
It’s not that we’ve attained the perfection we seek, but we have been made His own!
Glory! That’s the greatest testimony anyone can ever have. Ever.
Or can you tell me one thing that matches your salvation?
Is there anything more precious to you than Jesus?
That we may know HIM.
Lord, I pray that this word rings in our hearts through out this week and beyond. It’s not that we have attained, but that we have been called to have a deeper walk with you. One that we act, speak, look and feel more like you daily.
Lord, help us. Help us to know you more than we’ve ever done before.
You, Jesus, are the reason we have life.
In Jesus name, Amen.
Thank you for reading!
I hope you were blessed?
Do share lessons, scripture or thoughts with us.
