Hey hey hey!
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. (NLT)
For where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also. (AMP)
Apart from all Pastor Steven Furtick’s messages in the year 2016, I’d really love to have an Amplified Bible as my Christmas gift, it explains things so well! Lol.
I think today’s question is one we all ought to answer. Once you know what is important to you, it sort of streamline’s your life.
I spent time last week leaving MANY facebook groups, not because the things shared there aren’t good, but are things I do not necessarily need right now. It was tough for me to make the decision because I had made few acquaintances from these groups; but I had to weigh- Good or God?
Dear Mr. Man, what is important to you?
Take a moment to think of how you spend your time, resources and gifts. What does that reflect?
I left some of these groups because all they asked men to do was make money. It is a culture I often notice; that men should always be busy making money, not following God and His plans for their lives. Instead, women should be busy doing that. Women should be busy praying, learning to cook, making enough to support their husbands and children.
If you rush through this, you will think I am trying to say that money is bad or useless, but remember that even the Bible says that a little sleep or slumber can cause serious poverty if you are supposed to be productive. But please, do not chase money all your life, only to realize at the end that only God could have filled the void you felt. Having stacks of money in your account does not translate to a fulfilled life.
God knows your needs, He is ready and able to provide ALL your needs even before you know you’re in need, but anything or anyone that tells you you can be self-made is a scam. Do you think being self-made is child’s play? You will work and tire and still feel empty. Following God isn’t a bed of roses either, but ain’t nothing as sweet as grace!
As asked earlier, why are you here?
If you do not even know why you are here, it will be hard to know what is important and where your treasures should lie.
I have seen few men who are oh-so-on-fire for God and I dare say there’s nothing as attractive as that! Frances, in her recent article, talked about how she now speaks the same language as her brother since he became born-again. It made so much sense and made me wonder, why would you want a praying woman and not be a praying man yourself?
You can be a saved man and still be nonchalant about the things of God. God can be your Saviour and not your Lord.
I love this comment from my brother Michael from the same FATHER last week: “It is one thing to be in the Lord, it is another to walk WITH the Lord (that is, live according to His leading). The difference?
One is though born again, he sticks to HIS OWN plans and wish. While the other is also born again, but surrenders to God’s purpose and plan for his life. Some persons accept Christ, but do not make Him their Lord.
The man who submits to God’s purpose and plans resembles Christ in character and competence more than he who doesn’t.
The bottom line? Some men, though they may be in Christ, appear purposeless and directionless because they do not walk WITH Him…”
Not to be insensitive or harsh with this post…I have friends who are genuinely going through deep and hard things as guys. Many are trying and I wish there was something I could do, but the only thing I can do is lead you to the Father of all treasures, who treasured you even before you got here. God does not want you to waste your life. He does not want you to focus on the past but on the treasure of a life with Him.
He does not care about your past as long as you are willing to let go and LET GOD! My Pastor’s salvation story is one I love to hear often. He went to the meeting because it was held at a hotel and hoped they would share alcohol after the service; but he got saved there…Though he had hangover that very morning.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not become discouraged [spiritless, disappointed, or afraid]. Though our outer self is [progressively] wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day.
For our momentary, light distress [this passing trouble] is producing for us an eternal weight of glory [a fullness] beyond all measure [surpassing all comparisons, a transcendent splendor and an endless blessedness]!
So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable.
Work excellently and ask God to bless the work of your hands, but never make money the treasure of your life. Do not lose relationships and your relationship with God because you’re hustling.
Think about it…
What is important to you?
