Life lately: Phone ‘fast’ and changes on omobolaji.com

Hey hey heeey

LIFE LATELY-

I’m back!!!

I know. I know. I missed you too. Lol.

It’s been just one week off, but it seems like monthssss…

I’m sorry- the ‘leave’ wasn’t really planned, but I’m glad I got time off. I needed to clear my head from social media and I’m happy the time was worthwhile. I sincerely think everyone needs this once in a while. You’d be surprised how ‘light’ you’d feel when you take time off the internet. Some people think they can’t do it, trust me- you can. In fact, you might need it more than you know. See it as a personal retreat.

As a believer, you can use the time to grow your walk with God, study the word and pray more. Who knows, you might get some interesting information one midnight while you can’t sleep like I did. Lol. There was this night I couldn’t sleep and felt God was about to share things with me. I started seeing interesting things, got up from my bed, carried my torch and started writing what I saw…

Anyway, you should try it too.

That said, how have you been? I hope you’ve been well?

I have been great. Nothing to worry about.

I’d like to share that our blog will experience small changes from now- nothing drastic.

‘The word’ on Mondays will no longer be tagged ‘The Word’. It’s now under the 274 degrees category, but it will still focus on my lessons as a growing believer- as that’s what ‘The word’ has been about. The number- 274 is coined from my favourite verse in Psalms 27:4 which says

One thing I ask of the Lord, that is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

I also hope to have a business with that name in the nearest future. (I’ve actually done one under that name already- See why you should contact me to edit your contents for you? Though my first work under this wasn’t to edit, it was to report an event.) It’d probably be tagged Blossom With Bolaji (BWB) though, under the 274 category.

Wednesdays! I’m pretty excited about Wednesdays to come (not that I’m not excited about other days o). I was first scared when I got this idea, but then I read ‘Who moved my cheese’ and realized that I was afraid of change.

If we’re close, you’d know that development and social change has my heart. Wednesdays will begin to focus on social issues around Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Nope- not gossip. I’ve been meaning to grow my knowledge base on people who are doing things in and for Nigeria (and Africa) in their own little way. I’d share their stories here. It can be about individuals or organizations.

This will fall under the ‘AS IT CAN BE’ category. As the name implies, it will focus on AS THINGS CAN BE IN NIGERIA (AND AFRICA). We will focus on potential, not problems.

I’d also share stuff to broaden your horizon. I did a course on Identity and Conflict last semester and realized that I had been biased about Biafra- because I had one side of the story. We all need to begin to know that there is danger in listening to only one side of the story. (Watch Chimamanda’s TedTalk- ‘The danger of a one-sided story.’

I read and researched on the genocide in Rwanda and realized that there’s so much to Africa, it’s not enough to drink from the cup media puts on our lips. These stories make my heart ache and some make my heart leap- that there’s hope for Nigeria and Africa as a whole. (Watch out for this space)

I hope you’re as excited as I am.

The Wednesday blogs might not be every week for now, but I’d try to be consistent.

Finally, Fridays!

Fridays used to be tagged ITG’s which meant ‘I thank God’. Here, we shared PraiseLetters from me and many guests. They were all encouraging. But Fridays will now be tagged ‘Lessons learned’.

It will still be in the thanksgiving form. I will share lessons I learned through the week, while staying thankful for them.

That’s it…for now.

It’s not fair that so very few of us share guest posts o. And you people will now start ‘checking up’ on me when I don’t post 3 times a week. I can only do so much, so, feel free to share your lessons as a believer, social development issues and lessons learned. We’re an efamily, so let’s not be stingy with posts. Lol.

Just before I ‘round up’ my speech today, I’d like to leave you with this beautiful verse I saw while reading Ecclesiastes last week. Mahn, that book is beautiful and should be read often.

Ecclesiastes 8: 2-6

Obey the King’s command, I say, because you took an oath before God.

Do not be in a hurry to leave the King’s presence. Do not stand up for a bad cause, for he will do whatever he pleases.

Since a King’s word is supreme, who can say to him, “What are you doing?”

Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure.

For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a man’s misery weighs heavily upon him.

The first part in verse 3 was what stood out for me.

Do not be in a hurry to leave the King’s presence.

Assuming King Samuel, oh so wise, was referring to an earthly King here, what about the King of Kings?

In what ways are you hurrying out of God’s presence?

I think Ecclesiastes will be a ‘revelational’ read for you this week. Try to study it…

Have an amazing week ahead.

See you soon.

Love always,

Mobolaji.
