Hey hey hey!
I didn’t learn just one lesson this week but I’m sharing only one…
I first heard this sentence at our TWTW group during a study on love and it has remained with me since then.
Love does not wait to be loved: This love walk for believers requires such dying to self that requires grace and constant strength from God. And I don’t know if I’ve scored very high this week.
I and a friend/colleague talked extensively yesterday on how we were both experiencing certain things in the office that required grace. But we concluded that love should never wait to be loved.
(Please, understand what I mean here o.)
The 1 Corinthians 13 kinda love does not love only lovable people but also those who try to bring out the unbeliever you’ve left behind.
“If you love only the people who love you, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners do that! And if you lend only to those from whom you hope to get it back, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount! No! Love your enemies and do good to them; lend and expect nothing back. You will then have a great reward, and you will be children of the Most High God. For he is good to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful just as your Father is merciful.
Luke 6:32-36 GNB
I shared with her how you’d think you’ve grown past some things because you’re mostly alone…But your true character shows when you’re dealing with people. That’s when you can tell if you’re getting better at your love walk.
When you’re alone, you’d mostly feel spiritually high with a halo on your head- enjoying God in solitude. Then, when it’s time to practice all He’s been teaching, you realize ‘oh well, I need more Jesus than I even admit…’
People will annoy you, hurt you or even outrightly dislike you for no just cause; but God asks you to give them love in return. (Which might have to be from a distance because we must be wise and not become door mats).
Love does not wait to be loved before it loves; this is my lesson for the week.
What are yours?
Light and love,
Download this short, life-changing eBook about things most believers don’t like to share. It will bless you.
Exams start tomorrow. Kindly put me in your prayers. Also note that there will be no posts next week until I’m done…God bless!
