As I resume my last year in the university…

Hey hey hey!

School resumed yesterday. I’m still home, but I’m leaving soon. These 4 months at home have been indescribable. So little and so much has happened. These things haven’t happened TO me as much as they’ve happened IN me.
IN me.

I remember the night we got to Ghana, my mum and I. We called my friend from Secondary School, took a cab to her hostel, ate semo and ogbono, then slept.
The next morning, we went hunting for a hostel close to school. I found one with three students in the room, two had already started school. I resumed school late.

I was happy I’d stay with these ones because I could easily catch up on what I had missed in classes. Only for me to later be told that I wouldn’t be allowed to stay in the hostel because I was Nigerian.
I’m still VERY Nigerian, by the way.

My mum wasn’t having it o. After all our ‘hustle’ to get a place close to school. She convinced them that ‘her daughter’ was well behaved and wouldn’t cause trouble as they claimed other Nigerians had.

I slept top bunk. My mum slept down bunk. (A classmate who liked to sleep on the floor moved from her bed for my mum.)

My Mum left the very next day and hasn’t been to Ghana ever since. She’s the only family that knows how my school looks like and she only spent one night. Lol.

It’s been three years after then. Going on the fourth…

I have to admit that many things have happened since then.
Do you remember this post? Where I shared a picture of the things I took to school.
Or this one about Puff puff.
There’s one on our Feed the Homeless too.
And this on my faith stunt when I didn’t have enough money to get me home.

I’m known to be the first to leave school and the last to resume. I love Nigeria too much for my liking. Lol.
But I love Ghana too.

Going there soon?

I got saved there. Wow!
Do you know what I just remembered… Wow.
I got saved in the same room I slept that first day I got to Ghana with my mum.

After God put this hunger for more of Him in me, I decided to accept His proposal. I took the ring. Knelt by that bed and asked Him to change me and make me His.
Jesus, thank you.

I’m only just seeing the significance.
That I got saved in that room. It could have been anywhere else. It could have been in my hostel.
But it was there…same hostel, same room, same bed that I slept the very first time I stepped the place.

I had gone to visit that same friend when it happened.

As I resume my final year, I can’t help but marvel at what can happen to someone in 4 years.
God didn’t lie in Joel 2…
He definitely does redeem the lost years.

I will give you back what you lost in the years when swarms of locusts ate your crops. It was I who sent this army against you. Now you will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied. You will praise the Lord your God, who has done wonderful things for you. My people will never be despised again.
Joel 2:25-26 GNB

If you told me that I was going to experience a semester where I had to trust God with so little, I’d have called you a lair.
If you told me that I was going to have a semester where I didn’t know where or how I was going to pay my fees, I’d have called you a big lair.
By if you told me that God will use me or that He’d ask me to write a book to Fathers and young men, I’d have called you a big fat liar. (People are already asking for LETTERS TO OUR FATHERS, Men-to-Men edition. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)
People gat no chillz. Lol. This book is way bigger than me sha…

As I resume my final year in School, I don’t know what lies ahead, but I know He who owns my future.
The God that remains faithfull when all are faithless, because He can’t deny Himself.

As I resume my last year in University, I want you to know that even when you don’t understand what God is doing in your life, He gets it.
Don’t try to be like everyone else.
Don’t try to go where everyone else is going.
Don’t see things the way people see them.

God is calling you. He’s calling us.
Will we be unashamed?
I hope so.

So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free people, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.
Galatians 3:28-29 GNB

Love always,

gosh i so loved reading this. I resonated with it on a level I cannot understand.
God is faithful! even when we are not. He does not lie and can never change. Thank you Jesus for the moments you captured our hearts, all our stories are unique and so beautiful, thank you Lord for finding us in the midst of our filth. this salvation is nothing we deserve. You are Holy, Holy, Holy! gracious God!
Thank you for how you have used and will continue to use us.
    Bless you Bolaji

    • My darling Mo Mo!

I’m so glad this touched you in one way or the other. ๐Ÿ’š
Isn’t God so good? And isn’t salvation the ‘bestest’ gift ever?

Indeed, all our stories are unique and personal, but it’s so great to share this gift with friends like you! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜
