Hey hey hey.

Happy New Year efamily!

Haha, we’re 9 days in so it’s really not too late. Welcome to the new year, may this be the year you truly allow God’s will be done in your life; not your goals.

It’s funny how this year is the only year I don’t have goals. Ok. Ok. I have goals, but I don’t have goals. Lol. How do I explain this now?

I have goals that God can smash if they have nothing to do with His will for my life. So, yeah, I have goals- God’s will.
I also have a word for the year. Instead of trying to put down a bunch of stuff I probably wouldn’t keep up with after January; God gave me a word that rightly suits my life right now: FOCUS.
I will probably be back with a whole post on that word and what it means for me and why I think God gave it to me; but this post is about something different.
Something all together life-changing.

I have read and read and read these verses but didn’t quite get it till late last year (when i started praying for revelation before reading/studying my Bible). Jesus wasn’t really talking about a house at all! Oh gosh, shove me now.
Do me a favour and replace HOUSE, change it to LIFE.

“So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house (LIFE) on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers overflowed, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it (HIS/HER LIFE) was built on rock.”
Matthew 7: 24-25 GNB

“But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house (LIFE) on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers overflowed, the wind blew hard against that house, and it (HIS/HER LIFE) fell. And what a terrible fall that was!”
Matthew 7: 26-27 GNB

Notice that He didn’t stop at ‘anyone who hears these words of mine’; He added ‘and obeys them’. You can hear and refuse to be obey; that way you’re still building your LIFE on sand, not rock.

This is crucial. In fact, it is very very important because if you also noticed, He didn’t say ‘if the rain pours down, and if the waters overflow…’; He just went straight to say that those things happened. And if they haven’t, they WILL happen.

This year, I don’t have many motivational and inspirational content. Lol. At least, not that I can think of right now. I just have content that shows that my life is built and is BEING BUILT on rock, the rock of ages- Jesus Christ. And if one way or the other, that brings inspiration; awesome!

But I’m tired of seeing people who live the convenient Christian life. Who fill the ‘Religion’ part on forms as Christianity, but really don’t live out its precepts. I’d share an article I shared on Instagram few days ago because that article shook me like crazy…

I’m getting to a point where my ‘Christian’ friends think I’m becoming a fanatic and that I’m taking this ‘Jesus thing’ too seriously…my bad. I no longer know any other way to live.

What are you going to build on this year?
Same old bags of sand?
Or right up there on THE rock?

Trust me, the rain will pour, the rivers will overflow and the wind will blow hard; but what will determine if you will stand is what you build on. Sand or Rock.

No, I’m not trying to scare you. Neither am I wishing you ill-luck, I’m just saying- build your life on what matters.

It does not profit you to gain the whole world and lose your soul. Because after gaining the whole world, what next?

As you start the year, take this word to heart. And if you’re like some of my friends who haven’t gotten a word/scripture or direction for 2017; you can adopt ‘BUILT ON ROCK’ because really, this is all that matters.

Here’s the article I shared few days ago on social media. May it bless you…

Many of us are practicing ‘convenient Christianity’ and WE KNOW IT. Sadly, we rarely hear the message about Heaven and hell from pulpits these days, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are real. Very real.

Most Christians rather agree that we’re the blessed children of Abraham and that we’re highly favoured because of the blood of Jesus, but start to talk about forgiveness, giving or chastity and Christians will tune off.
Nobody wants what doesn’t favour their flesh.

‘Sex is for married couples because that is the only way it honours God’- Oh well, this part of the gospel isn’t for everyone because ‘body no be firewood’.

‘Forgive, just as Christ has forgiven you’ – You say that only because you don’t know how hurt I am or what the person did to me.

‘Give, and even more will be given to you’ – Are you crazy? Do you know how much I make? And if God gave me in the first place, why should I give out of it again?

‘Preach the gospel to all the world’ – I’m too shy and no one will listen to me anyway.

Read this verse again and again and again.

The road that leads to hell is wide and VERY comfortable for the flesh.

You might think heaven is a myth, but it isn’t. Neither is hell. We have at most 120 years on this earth, but the life in heaven (or God forbid, hell) is eternal. YOU CAN’T COUNT IT. Why would you choose hell over heaven because of the way you’ve lived your life on earth?

We pray for long life, but really, what if you die today? Are you CERTAIN that your eternal life will be in heaven?

It’s never too late to come back to God. And no, I’m not talking about Church going. I’m talking about getting to know THE PERSON OF GOD HIMSELF.

I’m not even close to perfect. There are ‘little foxes’ that battle for my soul too. Sometimes the Holy Spirit asks me to better shut up when I plan to gossip about a ‘sister’. But, who am I to judge? And yes, gossip is a sin. So, stay chaste and still gossip, lie, steal, hate? You’re sinning too.

We all know where we need help; let’s ask God. And as uncomfortable as it may be, let’s walk the narrow road that leads to heaven.

  • Goals against God
    God’s will against plans.
Bit it doesnt have to be so..if we will commit it all to God and whatever He says that we will do.
Give Him a blank sheet and let Him write on it.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
    Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

This was the first thing that informed my life this year the twtw book on “starting your year right”.
We want big things and great things but there is someone who is greater than it all and its God. we have to give Him a blank sheet and let Him write on it.
And be surrendered to his will like our Lord Jesus was.
    he leads, we follow.
    He says, we do.
    Life works better that way.

Ps: for those who need the ebook. Its here:

    • Mahn, you hit the nail on the head o. It’s funny the amount of peace I have just letting God’s will be done in my life. I’m not struggling to ‘catch up’ or be like anyone else but to ABIDE in God so that I can discern and clearly hear Him when He tells me what to do.

He leads, we follow. He told me to ABIDE under His shadow this year, not under human perspective or under what anyone may say or think… Just under Him biko.
And it’s funny, because, almost everyday after my quiet time, He tells me stuff about the year that I write down and even gives clear instructions on what to do and what not to do during the year…
I love that I’ve given Him a blank sheet. He knows me better anyway!

Thanks for sharing dear. God bless you.

      Remember, GOALL- God over all.

P.S- I’ve tried and tried downloading o but it doesn’t open after downloading. I still tried yesterday and it was same problem. I’d probably try again today.
      Thanks boo.

Wow. God is amazing, I was talking to God recently about being called a fanatic for him by friends and family. I was wondering if I was the only one. I even asked for a write up about it and He use you to answer my prayers. Thank you. Also you not a fanatic, you will realise it when you get to have friends that have to deeper relationship with christ, bcos they will tell you to even spend more time with him.

    • I don’t know how I missed your comment.
Thank you so much for sharing!

It is no coincidence that you read this post just after you needed it. It’s more of a confirmation.

Thanks for encouraging me. Indeed, He will give us ‘fanatic’ friends who will even encourage us to seek God more…
      God bless 💕💕💕
