Good Monday Morning!
Hope you’re doing great?
Yes, it’s another Monday workday, but we shall rejoice and be glad in it!
Let’s go straight to our Word today, shall we?
Not every time long introduction.
So last week I kept seeing or hearing Philippians 4: 8-9, and that’s how it is when God wants to teach me a new lesson.
I continuously read the verse but particularly loved how it was written in the Message Bible.
8-9Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
Sometimes, after reading the Bible, I just chill and meditate on how it’s truly the best book ever! Every lesson one needs to live a glorious life for Christ is put in it, if only we take the effort to read and meditate it’s words.
Ok. So, as I said earlier, when I start hearing a verse continuously then it means a lesson is waiting.
I finally got it when I read another chapter of the Joyce Meyer book I’m currently reading ‘Battle field of the mind.
The chapter was titled “Think about what you’re thinking about!”
It explains how it’s truly important to check and know that we can choose our thoughts!
It sort of reminded me of this post, where I decided to be grateful instead of angry. I changed my thoughts!
As Christians, if we’re truly going to live victorious lives, our thoughts must be constantly renewed.
Sometimes, we Christians can be so pessimistic about things. But the Bible advises us today that we should think the best, and not the worst of everything! Some of us will even worry for a friend, if there’s nothing we can find to worry about. The Bible says today to think about things to praise and not to curse!
I also read in the book that our minds don’t automatically become born-again after the new birth. And it’s so true. It takes conscious effort with the help of the Holy Spirit to work on our thoughts.
I remember even after I had accepted Christ wholly, I still believed that the Holy Spirit was the strict one out of the trinity. Just Imagine!
What a thought!
However, with the help of the Holy Spirit I later learnt that He’s the comforter and He lives in me. And what does it even mean that one Being of the trinity is strict and the others are not?
Mahn, thank God for growth!
Like Joyce, all I’m saying this morning is this- THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT!
Don’t let the devil get hold of your thoughts so that he wouldn’t have power over you.
I remember thinking about something this past week and I said “Why am I thinking about that? I don’t want to think about that.”
It’s not like it’s magic, but after few minutes I realized I was already thinking about something more positive.
Here’s the NKJV of the above scripture. Just so we all grasp the message.
Finally , brethren , whatever things are true , whatever things are noble , whatever things are just , whatever things are pure , whatever things are lovely , whatever things are of good report , if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me , these do , and the God of peace will be with you.
As you set forth this new week, make sure you think about what you’re thinking about!
God bless you.
If we’re connected on any other social media, then you’ve probably seen how I’ve been celebrating the 6th month since the ‘Feed the Homeless into 2015’ project. Again, I say ‘Thank You’ to everyone that gave, supported, encouraged, volunteered and prayed. God bless you all big time!
Here’s our eCard to you.
Plenty Love, Mobolaji.
