The Word – Peace

Hey hey hey!

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (NLT)
Phillipians 4:7

To be honest, when we examine our lives as Christians, we can admit that many of us lose our peace when something unexpected happens.

With my school fees situation, there were times I totally lost it- my peace that is. I allowed different situations and thoughts creep in, and this resulted in doubt.

During service, my Pastor said something interesting. He said if you leave your live to “What shall be shall be, you’re only leaving room for the devil to allow what he wants to be in your life.”

Isn’t that what happens when we lose our peace?

The Bible says it’s a new day, rejoice and be glad in it.

But let’s that this situation.

You wake in the morning and declare that it’s new day, you shall rejoice and be glad in it. This is your verse for the day.
Everything goes rosy and as expected, until 12pm when your lecturer(let’s say you’re a student like me) enters the class and says- “Everyone, tear a sheet of paper!”

He didn’t inform anyone and you didn’t prepare.
Will you remember the verse you recited in the morning?

Or as a worker, unexpected traffic holds you on the road on the same day your boss had warned that your biggest client will be coming.
Will you remember the verse you recited in the morning?

Just this morning, I was waiting for a volunteer for Feed the Homeless2016; we were to meet with the opinion leaders at Chorkor to finalize our plans for the program.
One thing I don’t really appreciate is when people meet up late- when I have to stand or even sit for a person who agreed to meet me at a certain time.
While I was waiting, I started to let my peace slip! Anger was slowly creeping in. Then God reminded me that this was the same person that had waited for me several times before, when I was the one late for our meetups.

I even remember one time I waited for a guy over an hour who was supposed to take me to a graphic designer for a project. I had totally flushed my peace down the drain and because I didn’t heed to the calming words of the Holy Spirit, I called him and ‘gave him a piece of my mind!’

But guess what?

I regretted it almost immediately after I cut that call. Me waiting an hour wasn’t worth me saying all the things I said to him. To think I later realized there was really nothing he could do about the lateness, it was beyond his control after all!

I’m trying to bring in scenarios because these are everyday things we face! We just never know what’s gonna happen in a day.
We can hope that everyday turns out awesome, but when it doesn’t, we have to keep our awesome peace!

Do you know that you can have peace even when circumstances don’t look peaceful?
You can choose peace instead of fear, anger, and any other negative feeling.

It is also true that most of the things we lose our peace for, end up bringing less effects than we expected.

You can end up doing the test and the lecturer announces that he’s not using the score.
You can get to work and the biggest client is all smiles and bubbles!

Oh, it has happened to me many times before so I can relate!

“I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
John 14:27 (NLT)

Peace is a gift! Don’t misplace it!

Resolve to keep your peace this week! Don’t let the devil steal it.

You can recite-

“I am a follower of Christ, so He is my mentor and role model. Today, I will not lose my peace. Everything may not workout as I planned, but I will be sensitive to the soothing words of the Holy Spirit when I’m tempted to lose my peace. I am a Christian, and even more, I am a peaceful Christian.”

If you missed Friday’s PraiseLetter on how God made a way in my school fees situation, you can catch up here.

Have an amazing week ahead.

Love always,
Mobolaji.

PS: Did I mention that Feed the Homeless 2016 is in 12 days. In many ways, I’m tempted to lose my peace over the program, but the devil is a liar!
Please, if you can’t donate, give or volunteer; then support us with fervant prayers!

It is a testimony already in Jesus name!
Amen.

I’m so sorry this post wasn’t up yesterday, my phone suddenly stopped opening our site. I tried all day but it didn’t work. I took my laptop to school to use it instead, but there was no time to really sit and work on the post with my laptop. Again, I apologize, please, forgive moi! ♥
