The Word – Obey.

Good Monday Morning!

Hallos people. How are things going with you? Hope your weekend was splendid?

There was no post on Wednesday and then on Friday right?

Let’s just blame it on school.

Let’s have a deal. You’d bare with me, accept & read articles that are posted per time. They might not always come when they ought, but I’m hoping we can get stable soon! Thank you.

Let’s read what God has been teaching me on obedience lately.

So, last week we talked about trust. Today, we’re moving to Trust‘s close cousin which is obedience.

This morning again, “Trust & Obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey” kept ringing in my head & flowing from my mouth.

Sometimes it’s very easy to say we trust God, but the truth is revealed in our actions in obedience or disobedience.

Is it even possible to fully trust God and not obey Him?

Remember Abraham.

God asked him to leave everything he’d ever known in his father land and pack his family to a foreign place. Abraham trusted that God had a plan and was not going leave him stranded.

Yes, he trusted.

However, let’s imagine if Abraham said he trusted God, but refused to move?

He’d say something like, “I trust you so much God, but I just can’t leave all I’ve ever known. It’s so comfortable here.”

I’m also guessing Abraham would have never been known as the father of many nations without obedience!

God just gave me another example sef. Remember our friend Jonah in the Bible?

He trusted that God had sent him to spread the word of deliverance to a nation that was about to be destroyed. However, he trusted only with his words, not actions.

Why? When it was time to obey, my brother turned around and ran away from where God had sent him!

I mean, sometimes it’s easier to just run.

Run away from starting your business.

Run away from resigning from that job.

Run away from writing that book.

Run away from sending out letters to speak in schools.

Run away from moving to another town or country.

Run away from marrying that simple man.

Run away from breaking up with that abusive person.

Run away from writing jamb again.

Run away from sharing Christ with that neighbour.

Mahn, do we run away from things! It seems more comfortable.

However, no matter how difficult obedience might seem, there’s always something amazing waiting.

I love the verse that says Christ has gone through all that we now go through and He perfectly understands!

Hebrews 4:15

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses , but was in all points tempted as we are , yet without sin.”

Even our saviour asked God if the cup could pass over Him at the last minute. Still, He persevered.

You must persevere.

I must persevere.

We must persevere!

We can’t seperate trust from obedience. If we truly profess our trust in God, then we must show it in our obedience to Him!

John 14:15 says

You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

Trust God, but don’t stop there; obey Him!

Want to be friends with God? Then please, obey Him!

That’s really the answer to a joyous life.

Have an amazing week ahead.

Love you,

Mobolaji.

  1. It’s amazing how human beings almost always want things done in their own liking.
Even some church leaders get enmeshed in this crass disobedience with the result that “God said” when it is actually to satisfy their ego. I once related a heartache I recently had to suffer because I decided to obey my instinct. In effect, many of us inadvertently disobey God thinking we are doing His bidding.
May I therefore thank you for this admonition.., it can never be late in coming.
