The Word – Mountains!

Good Monday Morning awesome people!
Did you have a weekend filled with bliss and calmness, or one with adventure and fun?
I think mine falls in the first category. There was no adventure and fun to be honest.

Oh, my exams are going well too, I have one today and will finish sometime next week. (Can’t wait).

The word today is Mountains and I will like to link it to a verse that is familiar to many of us.
Zachariah 4:6-7, NIV says-
So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty. ‘What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!'”

During fellowship yesterday, we talked about what Mountains represent in our lives and how to deal with them. It was quite interesting and everyone got to share something.
Mountains mean different things to different people. We are not talking about the ones we can see with our physical eyes and go climb for adventure. Mountains are situations or things that we encounter in life that seem overwhelming.
No one, absolutely no one can say they do not face difficult situations in life. Be it academic, health, financial, spiritual, or material Mountains; we often come across them in our lives.
How do we behave when faced with one? Do we blame God and people? Or do we use that as an opportunity to act rude and gloomy at that time? These are sensitive periods of our lives and we must be careful how we react to every situation.

The verse stated above has told us that it not by our power or might that we overcome, but by the Spirit of God. I am not disputing that Mountains may seem very difficult and make us ‘feel’ someway. But we ought to also remember that WE CAN CONTROL OUR FEELINGS!

The devil wants us to feel bad, sad, moody, gloomy, tired, and unfairly treated when certain things happen; but we can decide to ‘feel’ joy, peace, perseverance, loved and remembered when Mountains surround us. (Notice how I am only using we and us because I am so included in this word).
I just finished reading Living beyond your feelings by Joyce Meyer and I love how she took time to explain different feelings and ways to deal with them. One I really felt connected to was sickness and guilt. When ill, I am not the best person. I always ‘feel’ unfairly treated and ask ‘why me?’; like it would have been better if it were someone else! I really need to draw on God’s grace to stay positive when facing my Mountains.
We all need to remember that the Lord we serve Himself said that in this world we would have trials and tribulations; but we should be of good cheer for He has overcome the World for us already! (See John 16:33).

I must also state that this is not the time to go searching for alternative solutions. You MUST wait on God to deliver you! I love the saying that THE DEVIL WILL GIVE YOU A CAP; AND THEN TAKE YOUR HEAD! This means the devil and his agents never give anything for free! They may offer a solution, but it never lasts and only leads to more destruction.

God says his yoke is easy and his burden light (See Matthew 11:30), He will never allow situations that will swallow us completely. Even Job who lost it all did not drown. God allowed his trial because He KNEW that Job could overcome. God will not give Job’s trail to someone who cannot hold on or one who has not gotten to that stage spiritually.
God sees everything and knows what you are going through. I shared in the fellowship that what keeps me going many times is remembering how God brought me through other past Mountains. It reminds me that there is absolutely nothing too big for God to handle.

Through our trails, God is ever present; comforting and soothing us as we take each step.
Through our trails, God is ever present; comforting and soothing us as we take each step.

Do not let the devil lie to you that God does not care. God will stay with you through trying times and will laugh with you when you overcome.
He is a High-Priest that totally gets us! (See Hebrews 4:15) He went through various Mountains Himself, so He knows how you feel. Draw on His strength today and you will overcome!

Have a blessed and awesome week ahead!
No mountain will overwhelm you this week. The Lord will keep and protect you. He will make His face to shine upon you. He will walk with you and overwhelm you with love and grace. He is who He is and His love for you cannot be compared. Your week is blessed and anyone who comes around you will see God’s favour radiating your life. You will not drown in any situation and will only come out better and stronger. The Lord is for you. You are precious! Amen.
