The Word – Fire

Hey hey hey!

I believe you’re doing great!

So, I had just made my hair. Twists. And to make it look neat, the hairdresser burned the sides and tip.

As I did other things during my day, I could strongly smell something. It was my hair. It wasn’t a sour smell, just one of something that had been through fire. But there was nothing I could do about it. The smell would eventually reduce.

Then I read the 3rd chapter of Daniel that same day and came across this interesting story.

“So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowed around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.”

No smell of fire!
Really?

There’s a place we pass when walking to school that my roommate usually runs through. They always burn stuff there and she claims that even passing through it for a few seconds makes one start smelling of smoke.

But this didn’t happen to these 3 men, and they weren’t just passing through small shikini fire used to burn dirt o.

They were put into a furnace that was heated 7 times more than normal! The people throwing them into it didn’t even survive.
The Bible, however, records that when they came out, you couldn’t have known that they had been through fire. Because they weren’t smelling of it!

God just used this to paint a picture in my head.
I’m not going to smell of smoke!
I’m not going to smell of poverty.
I’m not going to smell of lack.
I’m not going to smell of failure.
I’m not going to smell of pain.
I’m not going to smell of unbelief.
When God is through with me. You’re not too!

You see, people expect us to get burned in this walk of faith. They see us following Jesus and believe there’s nothing out of it for us. They mock us and say it’s not worth it.
Living for this Jesus isn’t the way.

But they’re the same people who’d say “I knew you were special, I knew you’d make it,” when God is through with you.

I don’t even want to imagine what was going through the minds of these men. So God. This is all we get for serving you. Death inside hot fire, where our skin will peel right before our eyes.
But they did something.

They stood in front of the king and plainly told him that whether or not God saved them, they weren’t bowing to his god.
Oh my! This makes me want to dance.
Today, people don’t want to go through stuff o. Everyone is looking for shortcut.
So many people are boot lickers, denying their faith for momentary satisfaction.

God, however is the only one that gives eternal satisfaction!
You can’t be for Him and be against Him at the same time.
Ko le work.

A man that was invited to speak at my school fellowship likened Shadrach, Meshach and Abegnego to today’s Christians and brought up a lot of scenarios.
“Oh, he’s the king, we cant disobey him na, Sebi it’s just to bow down once.
Ahh, he promoted us with Daniel o. How can we now refuse to bow down to his small god? Even God will understand.
Everyone is doing it, it’s not a big deal.”
So many excuses they could have given themselves. But they stood by God. The God of wonders.
Who puts perfume on men who have been through fire!

In years to come, you’d be amazed at what God will do with you!

But are you going to swear to go into the fire if you have to?
Or are you going to burn with excuses and serve another god?

The choice is yours!

Remember…
“But now , thus says the Lord , who created you , O Jacob , And He who formed you , O Israel: “Fear not , for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters , I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire , you shall not be burned , Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel , your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom , Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
Since you were precious in My sight , You have been honored , And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you , And people for your life.
Isaiah 43: 1-4.

He says to choose between life and death.
God is life. Any other thing contrary to Him is death.

Have an amazing week ahead!
