The Word- Direction.

Hey hey hey!

I know, I know!

We’ve read about direction on the blog this year; but I just couldn’t resist this juicy lesson I learned while reading the book of Numbers last week!

My eyes almost popped out of their sockets. Ok, just kidding.

This lesson is in Numbers 9. (I’m trying to read through the old testament, but I’m not making it a rule like I did last year and failed!)

Numbers 9: 19
When the cloud remained over the tabernacle for a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order and did not set out.

This verse might seem a bit confusing. So, let me explain. This was the ‘Isrealite journey’ we so often refer to and the people were in the 40 years journey that should have been 40 days.

At a time, God used a cloud as a compass for the people of Isreal.

Numbers 9:17
Whenever the cloud lifted from above the Tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at His command they emcamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp.

Do you see it now?
This was their compass, it was what God used to give them direction!

Now to you, me and all of us as a family.

What is God directing you to do?

Did you notice in the verse shared how the people WAITED when God asked them to, and MOVED when God asked them to. Not when THEY WANTED to.

Are you moving when your cloud says wait; and are you waiting when your cloud says move?

One thing I asked God for this year was CLEAR DIRECTIONS!

I don’t want to have to do my own thing and then come back running because I didn’t involve God.

I had actually read the Old Testament at the time I first wrote on directions and bad seen how specific God was in His instructions. There was no confusion.

I think it was Noah’s story that pushed me to ask for clear directions. I mean, we all should do a refresh read of that story.

God was giving Noah SPECIFIC instructions on how to build the ark!
He gave width, length and all the sizes He wanted and how to arrange the Animals. Haha, it seems funny but it pushed me to pray.

Imagine if Noah had taken God’s instructions likely and had built a small ark or bought a ‘second-hand’ kind of boat. He and all he had would have sunk with the rest.

Do you know that rain had never fallen by the time God asked Noah to build an ark? (Mahn, it takes great trust to build ark when one has never even seen rain.)

It seems logical now, but it wasn’t in Noah’s time.

So, let’s say he built whatever he wanted; ignoring God’s directions to build something very strong. He could later blame it on the fact that he had never seen rain, so he didn’t know it would be that heavy.
But by that time, it would have been too late.

Do not try to fit God into your logic box!

Just obey His instructions first.

I do not know whether God is asking you to obey the cloud He’s been sending.

Just wait if He’s asking you to wait.
Just move if He’s asking you to move!

Numbers 9:22-23
Whenever the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.
At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.

It keeps getting sweeter!

Did you see the part where it said when the cloud was there for 2 days, or a month or a year; they waited!

We often think God is stupid and doesn’t know what He’s saying when He asks us to do things.

Like when I was sitting home without admission for 2 years, I thought He was wicked and was ignoring all my prayers.

But I look back and see that it was a purposeful wait! It was for my good!

Do you think God is taking long?

Is he saying wait 2 days, 1 week or 1 year?
Are you ignoring His directions?

Every wait is not because He hates you, it is for your good that you wait!

And this is not about waiting alone o. When the cloud shifted, they moved and didn’t give excuse that they had to get extra sleep!

They moved when God directed them to.

Are you using the economy as an excuse?
Are you going to join unbelievers to blame everyone and everything and remain at a spot because of the economy?

What shift is God asking of you that you’re still giving excuses?

Has your cloud shifted, while you’re still encamping?

Let’s all ask God for CLEAR DIRECTIONS for our personal lives, corporate and national one too!

When God directs you, you can’t fail.

All directions work together for your good, though they sometimes seem wicked.

He might ask us to move when we want to stay. We don’t like it.
He might ask us to stay when we want to move. We don’t like it.

But obedience is key! Obedience is better than sacrifice.

On Saturday, I entered a bus and had not yet even sat well when God said to pay her Transport fare. (The lady by me.)
I rejected it immediately and asked him- because of what?

I mean, the lady beside me was dressed well enough and didn’t seem like she needed anyone to pay for her.

But the thing about God is that, He’s never wrong!

When it was time to pay, I saw how she looked at the 3 cedis in her hands preparing to pay. I was convinced that God allowed me to see that because He wanted me to know that His directions aren’t nonsense that should be pushed aside.
I paid her fare and she prayed for me till I got down! I was humbled and taught that not everyone who seems put together has it all rozy. People can be well dressed but need your care!

Do not take God’s daily directions with levity. They are what eventually keep us from danger and harm.

Can we say a short prayer-
Lord, most times we don’t understand you. But the walk of a believer is not one to be understood, but one of obedience. We ask for mercy for times we’ve been disobedient to your directions. And we ask for grace to be obedient to everything you place on our hearts in Jesus name.
Amen.

Thank you for reading!
I apologize for not posting on Friday. The post was ready, but I had too many runs that day that kept me from a place to the other. I finally had full time at about 8 or 9 and felt I had to hold on.

Thank you for all the support and kindness you send my way.

Welcome to all our new efamily members. We’re so glad to have you here! ♥♡♥♡

Have a fabulous week ahead.

For the first time, I might have another post tonight. Please, lookout for it.

Thank you.

Love always,
B.
